Jeadan Suazo, Baseball

BOSTON, Mass.—Jeadan Suazo is Southern Maine Community College’s (SMCC) male student-athlete spotlight for the month of April, a first-year second basemen for the SeaWolves baseball program.

Being from Boston, Jeadan has come into a different lifestyle here at SMCC. Although moving to a different part of New England is new, baseball has always been the same—that constant in Jeadan’s life. Jeadan began playing t-ball at the young age of three-years-old. However, baseball hasn’t been the only thing that has stayed the same; Coach Dave Walsh, now at the helm of the SMCC program, was also Jeadan’s coach at Fenway High School. Jeadan compliments, “[…] it is such a privilege to have known him for six years now!”

The experience of playing collegiate baseball has been better for Jeadan. He explains, “The talent is more diverse coming from different states rather than the greater Boston area. So far this experience has dramatically improved my skill set—my focus is narrowed to just school and the game.”

Jeadan majors in Electrical Engineering with the intent to work on installing audio in automobiles and homes. He goes on to explain that his family is extremely supportive of his athletic and academic endeavors.

Jeadan describes himself as living a positive lifestyle—and sprinkling in some comic relief with his teammates on and off the diamond. He is hard working and keeps up with the “mental grind” motivated by the facts, “Somebody in this world is working harder than you. Don’t catch yourself giving 50 percent, you must be at 100 percent in everything you do.”
