SMCC Nips Mustangs 2-0

So. Portland, ME - CMCC fell to SMCC for the third time this season when the two teams met Tuesday afternoon as the number two and three seeds in the Eastern Division of the YSCC. The Seawolves wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as freshman midfielder Matt McClure scored off an assist from freshman Bojan Sikima in the 7th minute of the first half. The Seawolves kept the offensive pressure on for most of the first half, getting off 12 shots. SMCC went up 2-0 right before halftime when freshman Kyle Steifken scored a goal with three minutes remaining in the half off an assist from Jacob Smith.

CMCC refused to go down without a fight in the second half.  The Mustangs got the Seawolves attention and outshot SMCC 8-5 in the last 45 minutes. Robby Griffin recorded 11 saves in goal for SMCC while Sam Hobson had eight for CMCC. The 2-0 victory allow SMCC to advance to the Final Four Tournament hosted in Concord, NH by NHTI....
