The Seawolves were able to strike first, netting their lone goal in the 36th minute when Steve Rwendeye scored off a cross from Brandon Ford. Throughout the first half shots on goal were about equal as Vermont Tech edge Southern Maine CC by one 7-6.
Vermont Tech Freshmen Troy Girard (Hillsboro, NH) scored the equalizer and his first collegiate goal to tie the game 1-1 in the 72nd minute. Sophomore Matthew Brien (Colchester, VT) got the assist on the play after delivering a cross 20-yards out for Girard to put the ball in the back of the net just out of the reach of Southern Maine CC goalkeeper Drew Martin.
The Green Knights had a few good looks at the goal in overtime as Freshmen AJ Alunujaym (Saudi Arabia) and Senior Joaquin Currier-Cubero (Danville,VT) both had chances. However neither squad could find the back of the net resulting in the 1-1 decision
Senior goalkeeper Darian Calverley (Attleboro, MA) had six saves on the day while, Southern Maine CCgoalkeeper Martin ended the game with 10 saves.
Next up: The Men's team will take to the field tomorrow Sunday September 6, 2015 for a 2pm kick of vs. Unity College
