Bob Doyle (Baseball ’71) inducted posthumously as he
passed in 2005. Doyle was a standout pitcher during his two
seasons at the College. Doyle was instrumental in leading the
way to winning the State Technical College Series title in 1970 and
1971. He also pitched a shutout win in the 1970 Northern New
England Small College Conference (NNESCC) title game. Doyle
was a two-time State Technical College Conference All Star and was
a (NNESCC) Honor Squad recipient.
Upon leaving SMCC, Doyle
continued to be a fixture in the local baseball scene. He was
a past president of Maine Babe Ruth, and had a 12-year coaching
career at St. Josephs College in Maine. He was recently inducted
into the 2011 Maine Baseball Hall of Fame.
