DUBOIS, Penn.—After an eight-year hiatus, Head Coach Dave Walsh and the Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball program get back to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Small College World Series beginning Monday, May 13 following the awards banquet and homerun derby on Sunday.
The world series is run as a 10-team double-elimination tournament. All games (with the exception of the championship game) are scheduled as seven innings and will be played at Showers Field in DuBois, Penn.

Scouting the Opposition
The host school and reigning 2018 national champions, Penn State DuBois Nittany Lions enter play at 28-12 overall and 19-7 at Showers Field. Winners of the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC), the Lions average near eight runs per game and pose a threat with the long-ball, recording 26 this season (USCAA-3). As a team, DuBois has recorded a USCAA-best .345 batting average (five points higher than SMCC, USCAA-2) and ranks second in the country behind SMCC in on-base percentage (.446). DuBois has connected for 128 extra-base hits and makes things happen on the base paths swiping 96 bags this season.
The SeaWolves will pay special attention to first-year first baseman Isaac Stouffer who hits .376 with 33 RBIs and six home runs from the middle of the order.
The Lions will likely send junior RHP Brandon Orsich to the hill who is a perfect 8-0 on the season with three complete games and a 3.67 ERA. Orsich records 4.08 k/9 and has walked 20 batters over 44.1 innings.
On the Horizon
Should the SeaWolves advance with a win, they would face the winner of #2 UC Clermont and the winner of the play-in game #7 Bryant and Stratton Albany and #10 Bluefield State College on Tuesday, May 14 again at 6:30 p.m.
Should the SeaWolves suffer defeat, they would play on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. against the looser of #7 Bryant and Stratton Albany and #10 Bluefield State College.
