AUBURN, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team split with the Mustangs from Central Maine Community College (CMCC) at Garfield Road Complex on Friday, Sept. 21.

Game 1: W, 15-0 (5 Innings)| BOX

Sophomore Dylan Francoeur (Westbrook, Maine) was magnificent on the hill in game one, striking out eight before throwing a four-hit shutout.

The SeaWolf bats came alive for 15 hits as the batting order collected 14 RBI—four coming from the 9-hole and junior Cody Bryant (Somersworth, N.H.). Senior Sean Adams (Lebanon, Maine) and first-year Peter Stauber (Cumberland, Maine) both recorded extra-base hits—Stauber's a triple and part of his three-hit game.

SMCC scored in every inning but the first to feature seven runs in the third and defeat the Mustangs by the eight-run rule after five.

Francoeur was credited with his second win of the Fall. CMCC's Nick L'Heureux suffered the loss.

Game 2: L, 10-9 | BOX

It was Bryant who made the start in the second game, firing four innings to allow two runs over four hits. The right-hander rung up seven. First-year James DiBiase (South Portland, Maine) and Cole Lawrence (Pittston, Maine) came on in relief to combine for eight runs spread over 2.1 innings of work.

Stauber added another three hits in five trips to the plate; Francoeur and first-year Landon Hensley (Merrimack, N.H.) also contributed with multi-hit performances.

The Mustangs jumped on the board with two runs in their first at-bats before the SeaWolves went ahead by a five-run margin in the top half of the fifth. CMCC answered with six in the bottom of the inning and would answer the bell in each of the following two innings to eventually walk off in the seventh 10-9.

The Mustangs' Dalton Wing earned the win; SMCC's Lawrence was taxed with the loss.

Southern Maine stands 3-1 overall; Central Maine sports a 2-5 record thus far.
