Baseball Rolls In Auburn, Improves To 5-0

AUBURN, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball program rolled the Mustangs of Central Maine Community College (CMCC) in both games of an evening doubleheader on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

Game 1: W, 9-3 | BOX

Sophomore Nicholas Rinaldi (Tampa, Fl.) logged the win in the first of the twinbill, going five innings, before sophomore Cole Lawrence (Pittston, Maine) and first-year Maxwell Weaver (Eliot, Maine) came on to pitch no-run relief appearances.

First-years Ernesto Mora (Lynn, Mass.) and Juan Subervi (Lynn, Mass.) both recorded multi-hit games—Subervi a double and two RBIs. First-year Joshua Paisley (Portland, Maine) also connected for a double and two RBIs in four trips to the dish.

CMCC's Cameron Godbois threw four innings and allowed six runs to suffer the loss.

Game 2: W, 9-2 | BOX

Junior captain Dylan Francoeur (Westbrook, Maine) struck out nine over six innings to record his 149th K of his career—moving into third place all-time in program history, eight away from sole possession of second. First-year Shane Rooney (Rowley, Mass.) threw one inning in his second appearance of the season.

Junior captain Colby Gunter (Nashua, N.H.) went 2-3 at the plate connecting for a triple and scoring two for the road team. Paisley smacked a two-run home run to left field in the sixth inning to open scoring to 9-0.

The Mustangs' Dalton Wing surrendered all nine runs, seven earned, to get the loss.

The two-game sweep pushes SMCC to 5-0 overall; CMCC dips to 1-5 overall.

The SeaWolves get back to work on Wednesday, Sept. 18 when they play host to the Wolverines from Bridgton Academy for a 9-inning affair beginning at 4 p.m. LIVE STATS.
