Clippers Too Much For Seawolves

Machias - In this afternoon's YSCC men's basketball action the Seawolves traveled north to take on the Clippers of the University of Maine - Machias. A below average shooting night was the story for the Seawolves as they fell to the Clippers 78-63.

In tonight's contest the Seawolves shot only 24-72 (33.3%) from the field, while going 2-22 (9.1%) from beyond on the arc and 13-24 (54.2%) from the free throw line. Meanwhile the Clippers shot 51% from the field, an impressive 58.8% from the three point line on 10-17 shooting and 78% from the charity stripe. 

Seawolves' centers Tong Akot (Manchester, NH) and Jacob Loveridge (Chertsey, England) led the team with 19 points and 9 points respectively while shooting a combined 11-18 from the field. Point guard Jose Nouchanthavong (Westbrook, ME) chipped in 10 points and forward Alexander Hartford (Naples, ME) grabbed 11 rebounds to go with five points and four steals.

Pacing the Clippers was guard Elias Gutierrez who had a game high 26 points while shooting 9-12 from the field and 4-5 from the three point line. Floyd Higgins netted 17 for the Clippers, and Erick Andrews and Brian Getchell each scored 10 points.

With this loss the Seawolves drop to 16-6 overall and 9-2 in conference action. They will play again on Wednesday January 29th at home against Unity College at 8pm.
