SeaWolves Dominate At Home With 28-Point Win

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team trounced the Rams from Unity College 86-58 in its first Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) game at the HUB on Wednesday, Nov. 14.

In the first half, the SeaWolves tallied 44 points and limited the opposition to 29. It was all too familiar in the second as the home team kept pace with 42 on the offensive end and again held the Rams to 29.

Five SeaWolves lit up the scoreboard with 10 or more—senior captain Ryan Cloutier (Pelham, N.H.) led the charge with 16 and four three-pointers. Junior captain Anderson Kavutse (Westbrook, Maine) reached 14 points on 7-13 shooting and senior captain Atencio Martin (Kittery, Maine) notched his fourth double-double of the year with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore Jacobee Burpee (Manchester, N.H.) recorded eight dimes and first-year DeSean Cromwell (Biddeford, Maine) scored season-high 11 points.

SMCC shot near 50 percent from the floor with the bench going for 31 points.

Four Unity starters finished in double-figure scoring led by Hunter Engel's 16 and six assists. Ethan Bender contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds.

The result pushed SMCC to 6-1 overall, 2-0 YSCC; the Rams slip to 1-4 in conference action.

The action continues when your SeaWolves travel to Amherst, Mass to do battle with 0-4 Hampshire College in another YSCC contest on Saturday, Nov. 17. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
