Cloutier Becomes 19th Player To Reach 1,000, SeaWolves Down Moose 75-58

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team rolled to their fourteenth win of the season 75-58 over the University of Maine at Augusta Moose (UMA) on Wednesday, Jan. 23.

The SeaWolves scored 40 in the first half and 35 in the second to complete the season sweep of the Moose. SMCC minimized the turnovers and were able to get significant contribution from the bench to play with a comfortable lead.

With 12:27 remaining in the second half, senior captain Ryan Cloutier (Pelham, N.H.) finished a lay-up to become the nineteenth player in SMCC men's basketball history to score 1,000 points. The six-foot six-inch wing finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds, his first double-double of the season.

Sophomore Gregory Trinidad (Lawrence, Mass.) led all scorers in the contest with 20 on six made three-pointers, and senior captain Atencio Martin (Kittery, Maine) grabbed 15 rebounds to go along with eight points.

The SeaWolves make it four in-a-row and move to 13-3 overall, 10-1 in league action. The Moose dip to 3-18 thus far, 3-8 YSCC.

The conference slate continues on Friday, Jan. 15 when SMCC plays host to Hampshire College at 7 p.m. WATCH.
