PORTSMOUTH, N.H.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team took down the Herons of Great Bay Community College (GBCC) on the road by a 10-point spread to secure its second Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) victory of the year on Wednesday, Nov. 13.

The SeaWolves gained their 10-point separation in the first half and played even in the second 35-35. First-year Clay Hardy (Saginaw, Mich.) did the damage offensively for SMCC flushing 16 points on 6-13 shooting. Sophomore captain Ian Regan (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) threw in 15, making two from downtown.

It was Jordan Williams who stood out for GBCC recording a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in 27 minutes of work.

The SeaWolves pulled down 43 rebounds to the opposition's 34 and converted on 37.5 percent of shot attempts.

In a post-game interview, Associate Head Coach AJ Burton reflected, "The key to the game was our sustained defensive effort when shots weren't falling in the first half—to keep Great Bay in check. As a team, we must learn how to play with a lead and put teams away in the later stages of the game. We will face a tough test on Saturday in Vermont Tech."

With the result, SMCC climbs to 5-1 overall, 2-0 YSCC. Great Bay slips to 1-3 overall and remains winless in conference action at 0-3.

Winners of four straight, the SeaWolves will play host to the 4-1 Knights from Vermont Technical College in another YSCC tilt on Saturday, Nov. 16. Tip-off from The HUB is set for 3 p.m. WATCH on Facebook LIVE or follow LIVE STATS.
