SeaWolves Win Sixth Straight At Augusta Civic Center

AUGUSTA, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team downed the Moose from the University of Maine at Augusta 75-57 in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) showdown at the Augusta Civic Center on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

The SeaWolves trailed early by an 8-point disadvantage before matching the score at 20-20 at the 10-minute mark. The road team finished the half ahead by nine. Coach Richards' offense came alive in the second half posting 40 points on an improved shooting percentage. SMCC made 5-17 from three and 7-8 from the charity stripe.

Four finished in double figures led by sophomore captain Ian Regan (Old Orchard Beach, Maine). Regan converted for 13 points ahead of sophomore Anthony Lobor's (Portland, Maine) 11 and nine rebounds. First-year Pedro Fonseca (Portland, Maine) came off the bench to contribute 10 points and knock down two three-pointers.

UMA guard Israel Brown led all scorers with 21; Connor Davies with 18.

In a post-game interview, Associate Head Coach AJ Burton stated, "Even though we started slow offensively, we still played together as a team on the defensive end— resulting in quick easy baskets that helped us gain momentum to play our style of basketball. Again, a great road victory in conference play in a tough shooting environment."

SMCC wins its sixth consecutive to climb to 7-1 overall and a perfect 4-0 in conference play. UMA dip to 2-5 overall, 2-4 in league action.
