SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball program took to a 3-point victory at The HUB on Wednesday, Dec. 18 defeating the Bobcats from Paul Smith's College 64-61 in the final action before the semester break.

The SeaWolves outscored the Bobcats 30-25 in the first half and went ahead by their largest lead of the night 13, at the 10:25 mark in the second. Paul Smith's scored eight unanswered points to close the gap near the end of regulation but it was first-year Pedro Fonseca (Portland, Maine) who connected for a timely three-pointer to help put the game out of reach for the Bobcats. Sophomore forward Anthony Lobor (Portland, Maine) converted from the free-throw line on an in-bound foul by Paul Smith's to secure the victory for the home team.

Lobor went for a season-high 16 points, flushing two three-pointers and netting all four from the stripe. Fonseca, sophomore captain Ian Regan (Old Orchard Beach, Maine), and first-year Cameren Cousins (Wells, Maine) also finished in double figures—Regan and Cousins combining for 16 boards.

Paul Smith's Sterling Scott led all scorers in the game with 21; David Harris came off the bench to contribute 18 on 7-9 shooting.

In a post-game interview, Associate Head Coach AJ Burton commented, "Through the highs and lows of the game, we did a good job making plays when needed and committing ourselves to win the game on the defensive end. As a staff we are proud of this group for persevering through this final stretch and to break for the holidays on a high note."

SMCC improves to 11-3 overall, 7-2 in Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) play; Paul Smith's dips to 5-9 overall, 3-6 in league action.

The SeaWolves get back to work in 2020 when they play host to the Knights from the Community College of Rhode Island in a non-conference contest on Saturday, Jan. 4. Tip-off from The HUB is set for 3 p.m. WATCH on Facebook LIVE or follow the GAME CAST.
