Ben Franklin: W, 79-74 | BOX

Southern Maine outscored its opponent by three in the first half and two in the second with help from sophomore guard Colin Baker (East Hampton, Conn.) who went for a season-high 16 points on 4-7 from three-point territory.

First-year Cameren Cousins (Wells, Maine) used an efficient 5-6 from the field to also total a season-high 13 points. Sophomore Anthony Lobor (Portland, Maine) scored 12 off the bench for the home team in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Four Ben Franklin starters put together double digit performances led by Bryson Gulley’s 19.

Holyoke CC: W, 72-68 | BOX

SMCC jumped out to a hot start and held a 34-24 advantage at the break. Holyoke piled on 44 to their point total in the second half, but the SeaWolves outlasted on the defensive end and capitalized timely buckets to cling to a four-point victory.

Sophomore captain Ian Regan (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) put up a season-high 20 points, connecting for four three-pointers against the zone defense. First-year Zachary Mickle (Billerica, Mass.) offered effective minutes with seven points to go along with five assists and five boards.

The SeaWolves converted at a 47.8 percent clip from the field—40.0 percent from beyond the arc.

Paul Smith’s: W, 77-57 | BOX

It was first-year Pedro Fonseca (Portland, Maine) who led his squad with 18 points, part of a four-man double-figure game. Fonseca filled the scoresheet shooting 70.0 percent from the field. Fellow first-year guard Clay Hardy (Saginaw, Mich.) contributed 11 rebounds and a block to an otherwise quiet afternoon offensively.

Sterling Scott and Brandon DeGrasse combined for 30 points for Paul Smith’s.

Associate Head Coach AJ Burton reflected, “This weekend was successful being able to go on the road for an overnight trip and come back with two wins. As a young group, we are still learning things on the go but the guys were able to re-gather during some adverse times and come out on top. This is a good lead into our next stretch of games before Thanksgiving break.”

The SeaWolves continue their conference slate when they travel to Great Bay Community College to match up with the 1-2 Herons on Wednesday, Nov. 13. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. in Portsmouth, N.H.
