CONCORD, N.H.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) golf team competed in its first Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) round of 2018 at Beaver Meadow Golf Course on Saturday, Sept. 15.

NHTI placed first in team scoring carding a 335 at its home track. Paul Smith's College (PSC) finished second and 31 strokes behind while the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) finished its day shooting a 377. SMCC was disqualified from team scoring with too few players in attendance.

Sophomore Tyler Hensley (Reedsville, Ohio) fired a team-best 110, then it was first-year Joseph Cawthon (Delray Beach, Fla.) who turned in a 113, followed by first-year Robert Caron (Naples, Maine) signing off on a 116.

NHTI's Ryan Rothdiener medaled a first place finish shooting an impressive 78—teammate Trevor Moore scored second just one stroke behind. Austin Delosh of PSC and Ty Cowen of UMA both finished at 83.

Following the round, Head Coach Chuck Ott commented, "While the results from today's match are not the results we were looking for as a team and individually, I believe that our golfers can be more competitive if they identify the areas of their game that need adjustments, focus on correcting these areas and apply these adjustments in future play. We are a young team with one returning player from last year. I have every confidence that the players who played today can and will improve their games."
