CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) golf team hosted a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) match at Purpoodock Golf Club on Saturday, Sept. 28—NHTI, the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA), and Great Bay Community College were all in attendance.

For the third year at Purpoodock, NHTI placed first among competitors posting a 355 total. The SeaWolves turned in a team 379, their second lowest score of the fall, followed by UMA at 531. Great Bay was disqualified from team scoring with too few players in attendance.

NHTI medaled two individuals—Ryan Rothdiener placed first posting an 86 and Sean Higgins with a third place score of 89. SMCC's Samuel Winslow (Portland, Maine) fit in-between with his second consecutive second place shooting an 89.

First-year Ethan Laverriere (Alfred, Maine) scored a 92 followed by sophomore Robert Caron (Naples, Maine) and first-year Chase Locke (Biddeford, Maine) both firing even 100s. First-year Connor Ward (Oxford, Maine) tied a season low 112.

In in a post-match interview, Head Coach Chuck Ott stated, "Considering that Purpoodock is a tough course, I am pleased how our golfers problem solved and refocused after missing targets and disappointing holes. We have another match at Purpoodock in two weeks and hopefully with some focused practice we'll improve on our scores."

The SeaWolves have an off week before returning to Purpoodock on Sunday, Oct. 13 for a 1 p.m. tee-time.
