Philbrook Delivers, Defense Stands In SMCC Victory

POULTNEY, Vt.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team notched its first win of 2018 defeating the Eagles from Green Mountain College 1-0 in a non-conference match on Saturday, Sept. 8.

Sophomore midfielder Yaroslav Philbrook (Chernigov, Ukraine) would score the eventual game-winner in the 28thminute creating for himself—this Philbrook's first goal of the season, his fourth of his career.

SMCC outshot Green Mountain 23-14 and collected six more corner kicks dominating goal scoring opportunities.

First-year goal keeper Camden Labrecque (Saco, Maine) tallied four saves to notch his first clean sheet of his collegiate career.

The SeaWolves hang on to jump to 1-1 overall; the Eagles fall to 1-2 to begin their season.
