Men’s Soccer Erupts For 10 Goals, Remains Perfect In YSCC Play

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team cruised to its seventh straight win, getting a 10-0 result over the Black Sheep from Hampshire College in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) contest Sunday, Sept. 22.

Five different SeaWolves contributed to the scoresheet, but it was first-year Mohamed Matan (Lewiston, Maine) who led the way with four. Matan scored the only two of the first half and netted consecutive scores inside the 58th minute—bringing his goal total to 12 on the season.

First-years Blake Moran (Newmarket, N.H.) and Blake Collins (Calais, Maine) both scored two and first-year Keto Tchiputo (Portland, Maine) and sophomore captain Syohga Cusumano (Okinawa, Japan) each added one.

Sophomore Camden Labrecque (Saco, Maine) secured three saves in as many attempts to help the Wolves improve to 7-1 overall, and stay perfect at 5-0 in conference play.

The SeaWolves hit the road on Saturday, Sept. 28 and travel to the Community College of Rhode Island (NJCAA) to play a non-conference game beginning at 3:30 p.m.—located on the Flanagan Campus in Lincoln, R.I.
