BROCKTON, Mass.— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team suffered its second blemish of the fall on the road at Massasoit Community College—defeated 4-1 by the Warriors on Saturday, Sept. 5.

SMCC made its mark on the scoreboard first courtesy of first-year Mohamed Matan (Lewiston, Maine) in the 10th minute, separating himself as the conference leader with 13. The Warriors came storming back to convert three times in the first half and again in the second to spoil the SeaWolves' nine-game win streak.

Sophomore Camden Labrecque (Saco, Maine) and first-year Christopher Ferguson (Casco, Maine) split halves in the goal mouth.

In a post-game interview, Head Coach Brian Dougher commented, "We started well, we just didn't finish well. I'm looking forward to changing the momentum this weekend at home."

The result pushes SMCC to 9-2 overall and Massasoit to 5-5-1 on the season.

The SeaWolves will look to finish an undefeated conference season on Saturday, Oct. 12—and standing in their way are the Clippers from the University of Maine at Machias. SMCC is 3-10-2 in its previous 15 matches against Machias. Kickoff at Wainwright Recreation Complex is scheduled for 3 p.m.
