UNITY, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s soccer team set a new program win streak (9) on Wednesday, Oct. 2, defeating the Rams of Unity College 2-0 in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) contest.

First-year striker Keto Tchiputo (Portland, Maine) matched his teammate Mohamed Matan (Lewiston, Maine) for the league lead in goals, netting both in this one to jump his season total to 12. Tchiputo was assisted by first-year Joel Musese (Auburn, Maine) on the first and first-year Dylan Weyeneth (St. Agatha, Maine) on the second.

In a post-game interview, Head Coach Brian Dougher stated, “Getting a conference result on the road is especially important at this stage. We are focused on playing our best soccer as postseason nears—we’ll be tested again this weekend against a talented Massasoit squad.”

SMCC improves to 9-1 overall and with one conference match remaining stands undefeated at 6-0 in league play. Unity dips to 4-5 overall, 4-3 YSCC.

The action continues when the SeaWolves travel to Massasoit Community College (NJCAA) on Saturday, Oct. 5. Kickoff in Brockton, Mass. is scheduled for 1 p.m.
