SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball team defeated the Herons from Great Bay Community College (GBCC) in both games of an afternoon doubleheader on Saturday, Oct. 6.

The Lady Wolves claimed victory by an eight-run margin in the first game and used extra-innings to grind out a 12-11 win in the second of the twin bill.

Head Coach Ray Magnant reflected, "Today was a fun and exciting day for this team. This is a talented group with so much potential in all phases of the game. I'm excited to make the transition into the Spring and see what we can do with a larger sample size."

SMCC gets back to .500 (3-3 overall) and will host a round robin finale on Saturday, Oct. 13—matchups and game times TBD.
