Lady Wolves Sink Clippers 60-33

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team topped the Clippers from the University of Maine at Machias 60-33 in part two of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) season series at The HUB on Wednesday, Jan. 10.

The Lady SeaWolves held the opposition to a mere one point in the first quarter and 33 points in total to improve on their 49.6 points-allowed averaged this season (3-YSCC).

Head Coach Katie Bergeron awarded first-year Julianna Lafrenaye (Nobleboro, Maine) SeaWolf of the Game for her tenacious defense in 15 minutes on the floor. Junior co-captain Jordan Farquharson (Ryegate, Vt.) led all scorers in the game cashing in 16 and nine rebounds. Reigning YSCC Player of the Week Amanda Brett (Portland, Maine) finished with a giant stat line and two blocks shy of a triple-double highlighted by 14 points, 14 rebounds, and a season-high eight blocks.

Caitlyn Lyons was the high scorer for the Clippers with 11. Alayna Caricofe posted 19 rebounds to take over fourth in the conference in this category.

SMCC improves to 7-2 in YSCC play, 11-5 overall. Machias slips to 3-5 in the conference standings, 5-10 overall.

The SeaWolves return to the hardwood Friday, Jan. 12 for another YSCC date with Paul Smith's College. SMCC will play for the season sweep, defeating the Bobcats by a 36-point margin on the road in November. Tip off at The HUB is scheduled for 6 p.m. WATCH on SeaWolves LIVE TV.
