CONCORD, N.H.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team ran away with a 82-49 win over the Lynx from NHTI in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) contest on Wednesday, Dec. 5.

The Lady SeaWolves outscored their opponent in each of the first three quarters, gaining more and more separation along the way. SMCC piled it on in the third quarter with 32, limiting the Lynx to just 6 on 2-11 shooting. Sophomore Amanda Brett (Portland, Maine) dominated the paint and used nine minutes of the third to net 18 of her 27 total points.

Sophomore captain Abigail Ramirez (Methuen, Mass.), junior Nyakuoth Mach (Des Moines, Iowa), and senior captain Adrianna White (Lisbon, Maine) each added double digits to the scorebook. Mach with a double-double and four blocks and the other SMCC starter first-year Hanna St. Pierre (Jay, Maine) contributed with five assists.

NHTI's Michaella Biron led her team with 18 points and nine rebounds spanning 32 minutes of action.

Head Coach Katie Bergeron commented, "It was nice to pick up a win on a court we haven't fared well on in recent history. Our starters contributed big minutes with efficient shooting from the floor. Now the focus is to finish the semester strong."

The result pushes the SMCC women to a perfect 9-0 record, 5-0 in YSCC play; the Lynx ruin a three-game win streak and slip to 5-3 overall, 4-3 YSCC.

The action continues when the Lady Wolves play host to the Knights from Vermont Technical College in another YSCC matinee beginning at 1 p.m. WATCH.
