NEWPORT, R.I.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team dropped a non-conference game to the Midshipmen of the Naval Academy Preparatory School 57-46 on Saturday, Feb. 2.

After grinding out a one-point win 50-49 in the team's first meeting back in November, SMCC was limited to its fewest point total this season—scoring 31 points less than their average total. For the SeaWolves, this result brings the series to 6-10 all-time against the Midshipmen.

In a post-game interview, Head Coach Katie Bergeron commented, "This a talented and disciplined Navy Prep team. After six games in 11 days and the starting five having to give us big minutes in the previous two, we did our best to keep pace on the offensive end. Now our focus turns to the challenge ahead in CMCC."

SMCC ends its eight-game win streak with its third road loss of the season, now sporting an 18-3 record overall, remaining 13-1 in conference standings. Navy Prep jumps to 9-9 overall.

Next for the SeaWolves is a home date with Mustangs from Central Maine Community College in part two of the much anticipated rivalry game on Wednesday, Feb. 6. Tip time is set for 6 p.m. WATCH.
