SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's soccer team picked up its second Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) victory of the season in a 6-2 win over the Mustangs of Central Maine Community College (CMCC) on Tuesday, Sept. 11.

Junior Jessica Haskell (Saco, Maine) danced around the Mustang defense to give her SeaWolves an early 1-0 lead at the 21:48 mark. It was less than a minute later when CMCC's Deliah Schreiber delivered the equalizer on a ball from forward Samantha Belardo.

Sophomore captain Callie O'Brien (South Portland, Maine) again put the home team up by a score before the Mustangs answered four minutes later as the first half expired 2-2.

It was Haskell again with two quick ones when play resumed and then O'Brien from Haskell in the 75th. The attacking duo combined for another with nine minutes left to seal a four-goal victory.

Haskell finished the game with four goals and two assists (10 points). She and O'Brien both recorded their eight goal and second assist of the season. Through four games, the Lady Wolves have outscored their opponents 22-4.

Head Coach Ethan Wells commented, "I'm extremely proud of this group. We came out on fire in the second half, this our third game in four days—it's mental toughness, and we've got it. Our back four made key adjustments in this one. If we stay organized in the defensive third and continue to be creative moving forward, we are a force."
