CONCORD, N.H.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw in a much anticipated rematch of the 2018 Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) finals at NHTI on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Entering the contest, both programs stood undefeated; SMCC had conceded one goal, NHTI none. The Lynx struck first when reigning YSCC Player of the Year Maura Hart collected a loose ball in the midfield and found the top corner of the goal to give her team the advantage in the seventh minute.

The SeaWolves found the equalizer before the first half expired when first-year Logan Pray (Cumberland, Maine) anticipated a defensive clearance to slot one by the NHTI keeper on a one-on-one and put the first blemish on the Lynx defense.

The game held in a stalemate for the duration of the second half and both overtime periods.

SMCC outshot its opponent 21 to 17 and landed 15 on goal. First-year goal keeper Calley Baker (Jay, Maine) logged eight saves in 110:00 minutes of work.

In a post-game interview, Head Coach Ethan Wells reflected, "Today lived up to what it was supposed to be. These are the games you look forward to as a player and get up for. What a fun rivalry in the making, both teams respect each other and play hard."

With the result, SMCC stands 4-0-1 overall, 2-0-1 in conference play. NHTI sports the same record at 4-0-1 overall, 3-0-1 YSCC.

The action continues when the Lady SeaWolves visit Central Maine Community College on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. LIVE STATS.
