UNITY, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's soccer team rolled to a 7-0 victory over the Rams of Unity College in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) contest on Thursday, Oct. 10.

Five different players found their way into the scoresheet led by junior captain Callie O'Brien (South Portland, Maine) who netted her third hat trick of the season—one in the first half and two in the second. First-year Lilly Voye (Manchester, Maine) made a run near post to redirect a cross from sophomore winger Katelin Bennett (Freedom, Maine) to score her first collegiate goal to put SMCC ahead 2-0 at the half.

First-years Logan Pray (Cumberland, Maine) and Desiree Veilleux (Winslow, Maine) both slotted goals in the second before Calley Baker (Jay, Maine) too contributed with her first score of her rookie campaign on a thru-ball put between the defense by sophomore captain Paige Lord (Pittsfield, Maine).

In a post-game interview, Head Coach Ethan Wells commented, "We are putting together the concepts offensively that will make us a force moving into tournament time. I was thrilled to see Lilly and Calley score their first goals and our defense pitch another scoreless outing."

With the result, SMCC advances to 8-1-1 overall and 4-0-1 in conference play. Unity remains winless at 0-7-0 overall.

The SeaWolves turn around to host the Lady Clippers from the University of Maine at Machias in their final regular season conference contest Saturday, Oct. 12. SMCC has played to a 3-13-1 record in its previous 17 meetings against Machias, but a 2-0 record in its last pair. Kickoff at Wainwright Recreation Complex is set for 1 p.m. LIVE STATS.
