SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's soccer team solidified an undefeated Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) season with a 1-0 overtime victory over the Clippers from the University of Maine at Machias on Saturday, Oct. 12.

It was nothing going for either side in regulation, and again held in a stalemate for the first overtime period. Sophomore Katelin Bennett (Freedom, Maine) found the back of the net to score her second golden goal of the season at the 100:34 minute-mark when she crashed the goal on her own shot from the right wing position.

The SeaWolves logged 42 total shots and put 27 on target. First-year goalkeeper Calley Baker (Jay, Maine) earned the decision and eighth shutout of the season with two saves in the game.

SMCC improves to 9-1-1 overall and 5-0-1 in conference play to lock a first-round bye and advance to the final four bracket beginning Saturday, Oct. 26 in Concord, N.H. Machias stands 5-5-2 overall and 3-2-1 in league action to claim the #3 seed to the tournament.
