Women’s Soccer Scheduled For 12-Game Slate In 2019

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— Head Coach Ethan Wells and the women's soccer program will look to use a 12-game regular season schedule to make another run at a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) title and return to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) national tournament in 2019.

The Lady SeaWolves will open with a non-conference match at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, a perennial national tournament team, on Sunday, Sept. 1. Last season, SMCC defeated Albany for the first time in program history 3-2 to begin a 7-game win streak. Next, the SeaWolves will get first-year program Bryant & Stratton-Albany at home on a back-to-back with conference opponent Vermont Technical College Sunday, Sept. 8.

The conference slate continues with a weekend trip to Paul Smith's College before travel to Concord, N.H. to take on the reigning YSCC champion Lynx from NHTI on Wednesday, Sept. 18. There is more to prove for the SeaWolves suffering defeat to the Lynx in both the regular season and conference championship game in 2018.

SMCC remains unbeaten all-time against rival Central Maine Community College and will look to continue perfection with a midweek showdown under the lights in Auburn Tuesday, Sept. 24. The Lady SeaWolves will leave for the Community College of Rhode Island on Saturday, Sept. 28 and return home to battle USCAA Division I-opponent Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse for a Sunday matinee and first ever meeting.

SMCC begins October on the road at Unity College for a conference tilt to work on a 5-15-2 record in as many games. The women seek to overcome Massasoit Community College in consecutive seasons, this time in Brockton, Mass. on Sunday, Oct. 6. ahead of a two-game home stint to finish the regular season with the University of Maine at Machias and again CMCC on Tuesday, Oct. 15—this game denoted as non-conference.

New to 2019 is a six-team postseason format with a #3 vs. #6 and #4 vs. #5 play-in round scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19. The YSCC Final Four will be held at NHTI Oct. 26-27. The USCAA National Tournament is set for Nov. 7-11 in Virginia Beach, Va.

All soccer games are played at Wainwright Recreation Complex at 125 Gary L. Maietta Way in South Portland.
