Ethan Wells begins his sixth season as Head Women's Soccer Coach. Wells has coached the Lady Seawolves to an overall mark of 38-16-6 and 14-7-2 in Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) action. Under his leadership, the program captured its second-ever conference title in 2019 and has made three United States Collegeiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Tournament appearances (2018, 2019, 2022)— making a run to the national tournament Finals in 2022 (a program first). Wells was named YSCC Coach of the Year and USCAA National Div. 2 Coach of the Year in 2019; and during his four-year tenure (COVID cancellation in 2020), Wells has produced 10 YSCC All-Conference selections, eight USCAA All-American selections (six first-team), and eight USCAA Academic All-Americans.

A New Hampshire native, Wells played four seasons as a member of the men’s soccer program at the University of New England (Biddeford, Maine), and captained the Nor’easters his senior season while attaining a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management (2013). He went on to earn his Masters of Education degree in Athletic Administration, with a concentration in Intercollegiate Athletics, from Endicott College (2016).

Wells served a two-year stint as the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at UNE, a Head Coach/Player Development Officer for Global Premier Soccer, and most recently Head Coach of the Maine Lightning Soccer Club U19 Girls team (2020-2022).

In addition to his duties on the soccer pitch, Wells serves as Associate Director of Athletics and an adjunct faculty member in the Sport Management degree program at the College. He resides in South Portland with his wife Jacqueline and daughter Capri.
