Brian Dougher enters his 17th season at the helm of the SeaWolves Men's Soccer program. Dougher has coached to an impressive overall win-loss record of 129-94-19, and has led his teams to 11 winning seasons since his debut in 2005.

Under Dougher's leadership, the Men's Soccer program has landed three Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) titles in 2007, 2011 and 2019, has qualified for three United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Tournament appearances in 2005, 2011 and 2019, and has produced 15 USCAA All-American selections. During his coaching tenure, three former players have been inducted into the illustrious SMCC Athletics Hall of Fame.

A three-time YSCC Coach of the Year, Dougher obtained his United States Soccer Federation (USSF) “D” license as well as a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) diploma, Goalkeeper 1, and Goalkeeper 2 licenses. Dougher was also involved in the Olympic Development Program (ODP), serving as a Regional Assessor from 2001-2016. He has been responsible for evaluating players in Region 1 (Maine to Virginia) and his assessments were used to determine invitations for National Team try-outs. 

Prior to SMCC, Dougher served as an Assistant Coach/Goalkeeper Coach at Dean College (2003, 2004), Rhode Island College (1999-2002), Central Methodist College (1997, 1998), and as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Illinois College (1996).

Dougher earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Secondary Education from Illinois College (1995), where he played as a fullback and goalkeeper for the Blueboys. He then obtained a master’s degree in Sports Management from the California University of Pennsylvania.

In addition to his duties on the sidelines, Coach Dougher works as an Emergency Management Coordinator for Maine Medical Center and resides in South Portland.
