CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Foundation and the SeaWolves Athletic Club teamed up with title sponsor Sodexo Dining Services to put on the 16th annual SMCC Athletics Golf Tournament Fundraiser at Purpoodock Golf Club on Monday, Aug. 10.
It’s the mission of SMCC Athletics to continuously better the student-athlete experience, thus all of the proceeds help fund the athletic program offerings at the College, in particular capital improvements to athletic facilities. This year’s tournament operated under new format changes to meet the standards of COVID-19 best practices and filled the field in a two-flight event. Associate Dean of Students and Director of Athletics Matt Richards stated, “Through all of the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic, I’m extremely pleased to have been able to offer this event and continue to raise money in support of SMCC Athletics. I want to express my deepest appreciation to our sponsors and the 144 golfers that joined us at Purpoodock. Thank you for supporting SMCC Athletics.”
