Adrianna White: Student-Athlete Spotlight

Adrianna White: Student-Athlete Spotlight

Written by Bridget Fahey.

LISBON, Maine—Adrianna White is Southern Maine Community College’s (SMCC) female student-athlete spotlight for the month of December— senior captain and forward of the SeaWolves women's basketball team.

Adrianna began her basketball playing career in kindergarten for the local town recreation program. Now many years later, she is still playing—this time at the collegiate level, “[…] I’ve always dreamt of playing college basketball, even as a little girl.”

On being a student-athlete at SMCC led by Head Coach Katie Bergeron, Adrianna says “It has been a wonderful experience! The importance of being close with one another on and off the court is something that we as a team really buy into.”

“Basketball has been very beneficial to me— I’ve learned how to multi-task and time manage a demanding schedule to include both my academics and athletics.” Adrianna is on track to graduate from the nursing program at SMCC. A challenging degree program to include a clinical rotation during the season, Adrianna finds ways to set goals every week to achieve her successes as a student-athlete.

Adrianna describes herself as “one of the giggly ones on the team.” She brings a smile to her teammates on the practice floor and in the locker room; but when she’s in pre-game mode, it’s all business. Adrianna examines her opponent, especially her match-up, to look out for their strengths and weaknesses and best do her job on the floor for her team.

Adrianna is goal-setting and determined. At 10 wins and one loss at the semester break, she expects for the team and herself to have a very good rest of the season.
