Stirling & Whitney Represent SMCC as National Players of the Week

South Portland – Sophomore Men’s Golfer Tommy Stirling (Gorham, NY) and Junior Men’s Soccer player Blais Whitney (Cornish, ME) were selected as the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) players of the week for their respective sports.

Stirling earned medalist honors at the Yankee Small College Conference Championship match on October 1st at Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro, Maine. His finish qualified him for the USCAA National Championship being hosted by Penn State Wilkes-Barre on October 10th & 11th.  This will be Stirling’s second consecutive appearance in the national championship.  He finished 6th out of 86 at last year’s competition.

This is Whitney’s second national player of the week award this season. He scored both goals in a 2-1 victory over UMaine-Machias last week to give Southern Maine the outright lead in the Yankee Small College Conference. The Seawolves are currently 9-0 in conference and 9-2 overall.
