The 1972 Men’s Basketball Team is the first team to be inducted into the SMCC Athletics Hall of Fame.  The team finished that year with a 30-3 overall record en route to winning the conference championship.  At time of induction, the season record of 30-3 ranks as the most wins in a season at the College.  Members of that team included Brian Cousins, Walter Dearborn, Richard Fecteau, Ron Landry, Dave Leavitt, Reggie Mains, Tom McGonagle, Bill Mershimer, Jim Stacy, Gary White, and the deceased John Reed.  The team was coached by John Dakin.
