Baseball Splits With Two-Time Defending National Champs

The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team split their double header this afternoon against Briarcliffe College (NY). Briarcliffe has won the previous two USCAA Small College World Series championships. The Seawolves of SMCC dropped game one 9-0, but bounced back in game two to shock Briarcliffe 5-3.

Andrew Richards (South Portland, ME) got the win for the Seawolves in game two. Richards pitched all seven innings holding Briarcliffe to one run through six innings. The offense was ignited by sophomore Donnie Cray's (Gardiner, ME) two-run homerun in the fourth inning.

SMCC moves to 10-9 overall and remains unbeaten in conference play at 4-0. The Seawolves are scheduled to play a single game tomorrow at Kings College (NY). First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
