SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Penn.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball team suffered losses in a doubleheader at Penn State University Schuylkill on Thursday, Mar. 14.

Game 1: L, 12-2 (6 innings)

Schuylkill got off to a strong start, scoring three runs in the second inning and adding four more in the third. They continued to build on their lead throughout the game, ultimately securing a victory by way of the 10-run rule.

Schuylkill's Connor Licklider recorded three RBIs and a double, and Owen Zimmerman drove in three of his own.

The Seawolves struggled to generate offense, managing only five hits and two runs in the game. First-year Quinn Dillon (Gorham, Maine) took credit for the lone RBI for SMCC.

The Seawolves' starter Leudys Castillo (Estero, Fl.) was taxed the loss, three others made appearances from the pen. The opposition's Tristian Baer pitched a complete game to earn the decision.

Game 2: L, 11-1 (5 innings)

This time the Seawolves struck first with a run in their opening at-bats, but Schuylkill quickly took control in the bottom half of the inning and never looked back.

The opposition was led by Nate Gilbert's 4-RBI afternoon to include a homer. Schuylkill was also boosted by a strong pitching performance from Owen Shoop, who went the distance.

The Seawolves struggled to find a rhythm at the plate, spreading out four hits. SMCC starter Peter Keblinsky (Ellsworth, Maine) took the loss allowing six earned runs over four innings.

SMCC dips to 11-7 overall.

The Seawolves open Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) scheduling when they welcome the Hawks from York County Community College for a doubleheader on Saturday, Mar. 23. First-pitch in South Portland is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
