Men’s Basketball Uses Pressure To Pick Up Win in Season Opener

Auburn, ME. The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team used full-court pressure defense to force 28 turnovers and allow the Seawolves to pick up their first win of the season. It was an 81-60 win over St. Thomas University at the 18th Annual CAN-AM tournament hosted by Central Maine C.C.  The Seawolves jumped out to a quick 12-6 advantage then cruised into half time up 47-30. 

SMCC was led by Aubrey Lampkins (Washington, D.C.) and Emmanuel Donalson (East Orange, NJ) with 17 points a piece.  The Seawolves also shot 45.8% from the floor during the game as four other players scored 8 points or more.  St. Thomas was paced by Calvin LeBlanc who had 19 points for the Tommies.  The game was the 18th time these two schools have played with the edge going to the Seawolves 12-6.

SMCC (1-0 overall 0-0 YSCC) will play Dalhouse University Sunday at 12:00pm in the second round of the CAN-AM Tournament before opening at home against YSCC opponent Unity College on Thursday, November 1 at the Hutchinson Union Building Athletic Center.
