Seawolves Defeat Golden Eagles

Seawolves Defeat Golden Eagles

South Portland - In this afternoon's YSCC men's basketball action the Seawolves defense held the Golden Eagles of Eastern Maine Community College to 36% shooting from the field and 0-15 from behind the arc to propel them to a 82-64 victory.

It was a slow start for both teams in the first five minutes with the Seawolves being up 6-2 with fifteen minutes remaining in the first half of play. An eight point run at the 14 minute mark for the Seawolves sparked by an Atencio Martin (Kittery, ME) three pointer, followed by a Jose Nouchanthavong (Westbrook, ME) layup and then a Justin Robbins (Sarasota, FL) three pointer put the Seawolves on top 16-4. The Golden Eagles were able to cut the lead to five but were never able to overcome the deficit.

The Seawolves were led by point guard Nouchanthavong who ended the contest with 13 points, seven assists and eight rebounds and shooting guard Jon Amabile (Portland, ME) who dropped in 14 points and dished out four assists. The Golden Eagles were led by De'Anthony McCormick (Baltimore, MD) who scored 23 points to lead all scorers and ripped down 11 rebounds.

With this win the Seawolves improve to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play. The Seawolves will return to action on Tuesday November 26th at the University of Maine - Augusta at 8pm.
