Seawolves Lose Close Battle to Mustangs

South Portland - In tonight's YSCC men's basketball action the Seawolves went into the halftime break with a five point cushion, leading the Mustangs of Central Maine Community College by five, 50-45. At the 17:13 mark in the second half the Mustangs pulled ahead on a Kazre Cummings layup making the score 53-52. The Seawolves would keep the game close and even tie the score at the 14:42 mark but were never able to regain the lead, eventually falling to the Mustangs 95-85.

Leading the way for the Seawolves were center Tong Akot (Manchester, NH) who neared a double double with 15 points and nine rebounds and shooting guard Scott Proudman (Steep Falls, ME) who led the team offensively with 16 points. Guard Jon Amabile (Portland, ME) chipped in 14 points and point guard Jose Nouchanthavong (Westbrook, ME) contributed eight points, eight assists and seven rebounds. Coming off the bench to lead the Mustangs were Carrington Miller and Shaun Hill who scored 19 and 18 respectively. Kazre Cummings also chipped in 17 points for the Mustangs.

With this loss the Seawolves drop to 11-2 overall and 6-1 in YSCC conference play. The Seawolves will return to action on Saturday December 14th at home against Northern Maine Community College at 2pm.
