Seawolves Fall Short to Islanders

South Portland - This afternoon the Seawolves battled against the Islanders from John Abbott College. John Abbott jumped out to an early 6-0 start and the Seawolves were never able to take control of the lead. The Seawolves were able to cut the lead to three points, 79-76, with 00:23 remaining in regulation thanks in part to the play of point guard Jose Nouchanthavong (Westbrook, ME) who ended with a team high 30 points. The Islanders answered with two made free throws by Daniel Cayer to solidy the lead at five and secure the 81-76 victory.

The Seawolves were able to outrebound the Islanders 44 to 39 and committed less turnovers but the difference in todays game was field goal percentage. The Seawolves shot only 34% from the field and 22% from beyond the arc while the Islanders shot an impressive 48% from the field and 53% from the three point line. Leading the way for the Islanders was Justin Owen-Renwick who scored a game high 33 points on 10-17 shooting. 

With this loss the Seawolves drop to 13-4 overall and remain 7-1 in YSCC conference play. The Seawolves will return to action on Wednesday January 15th at Eastern Maine Community College at 8pm.
