St. Joe's Overpowers SMCC to Advance to Championship

South Portland - In tonight's YSCC semifinal the Fighting Saints of the College of St. Joseph went on a 9-0 run to open up the game. At the 16:56 mark Scott Proudman (Steep Falls, ME) hit a jumper to put the Seawolves on the board. The Seawolves struggled finding their offense for the remainder of the first half going into the break down 45-24. In the second half of play the Seawolves outscored the Saints 41-34 but it wasn't enough to overcome the first half deficit as the Saints walked away with the 79-65 victory.

Seawolves' point guard Jose Nouchanthavong (Westbrook, ME) scored a team high 17 points and dished out five assists. Shooting guard Atencio Martin (Kittery, ME) netted 14 points andJustin Robbins (Sarasota, FL) shot 3-5 from beyond the arc, chipping in 12 points for Seawolves. 

The Saints had five people in double digit scoring, led by forward Michael Bowlers who scored a game high 19 points to go along with 14 rebounds. Dee Anderson netted 17, Kashean Alstondropped in 11 and grabbed 14 boards and Rehiem Smalls and Dre Anderson each chipped in 10. The Saints also won the battle on the glass, outrebounding the Seawolves by 30, 57-27, including 23 offensive rebounds. 

The Saints will play Central Maine Community College in the conference finals tomorrow at 3pm.
