Bulldogs Squeak by Seawolves

South Portland - The Seawolves' outscored the Bulldogs of Bunker Hill CC by two in the second half of this afternoon's men's basketball game but it wasn't enough to overcome the seven point deficit from the first period as the Bulldogs pulled away with the 85-80 triumph.

In the first period the Seawolves connected on 11 field goals and the Bulldogs capitalized on 13 but the difference was the shooting from beyond the arc. The Seawolves were 0-7 from downtown in first half action while the Bulldogs netted 5-19, including two makes from shooting guard Shawn Miller, to take a 33-26 lead into the break. Center Keanyon Lambert (Manchester, NH) provided a spark from the bench for the Seawolves, shooting 3-5 from the floor to score a team high seven first half points.

Six minutes into the second half the Bulldogs had extended their lead to sixteen, 49-33, that included six points by both Kevon Young and David Stewart. The Seawolves responded with an 18-7 run, thanks to seven points from freshman Zaire Wilson (Norwalk, CT), to slash the lead to five. The Bulldogs countered with five unanswered points but Seawolves' shooting guard Grayson Waterman (Berwick, ME) had an answer with back to back three pointers. The two teams went back and forth until a pair of free throws by Waterman cut the lead to two, 75-73. A big offensive rebound on a free throw by the Bulldogs resulted in two consecutive scoring possessions for BHCC and solidified the Bulldogs' victory.
