SeaWolves Top Holyoke In 25-Point Victory

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College men's basketball team defeated the Cougars of Holyoke Community College 89-64 in its non-conference game at the HUB Gymnasium on Sunday, Oct. 30.

The first 20 minutes featured a 9-0 run and another 10-2 run by SMCC and the home team led by a 16-point margin at the half. Head Coach Matt Richards and the SeaWolves came out in the second half with the same urgency and excitement landing them a 26-point advantage, their largest of the afternoon, with five minutes remaining in the game. 

Sophomore Ryan Cloutier (Pelham, N.H.) was the SeaWolves high scorer with 16. He added four rebounds, three assists, and three emphatic blocks in the win. The captain John Morgan (Sanford, Maine) gave his team another steady performance with 15 points and sophomore Dylan Silvestri (Pelham, N.H.) contributed effective minutes with 12 points and six rebounds, giving the SeaWolves a spark on both ends of the floor. 

The SeaWolves scored 38 points off the bench, 30 points off turnovers, and shot an efficient 81 percent from the free throw line to improve to 3-1 overall on the season.

The action continues on Saturday, Nov. 5 when SMCC plays host to Navy Prep in another non-conference game at the HUB. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
