Men Roll With Second Consecutive 100-Point Performance

AMHERST, Massachusetts— The Southern Maine Community College men's basketball team rolled to its sixth Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) win and largest margin of victory this season in defeat of Hampshire College 109-35 on Friday, Dec. 9.

The SeaWolves were able to get six in double figures, which included career-highs for first-years Dennis Cummins (Abington, Mass.) scoring 12, Anderson Kavutse (Westbrook, Maine) with 14 points to go along with his 12 rebounds, and Trenton Coleman-Bishop (Bethlehem, Pa.) with 10 points. Sophomore Dylan Silvestri (Pelham, N.H.) also added 16 points, his eighth game with 10 or more points this season.

The SeaWolves executed on the offensive end, working the offense to find the open look. SMCC tallied 31 assists as a team, a season-high, to shoot 53 percent from the floor and near 44 percent from beyond the arch.

Besides their ability to score, the SeaWolves out-rebounded their opponent 49 to 28 and were tenacious defensively matching a season-high 16 steals.

SMCC held Hampshire to just 11 points in the first half and out-scored its opponent by 22 in the second to improve to 6-1 in conference play and 11-2 overall.

SMCC will complete its two-game weekend slate in Albany, N.Y. in a non-conference game against 2-6 Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on Saturday, Dec. 10. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
