WARWICK, R.I.—  The Southern Maine Community College men's basketball team was defeated by the Knights from the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) 79-75 in a non-conference game on Saturday, Jan. 7.

The SeaWolves held a 33-30 lead at the half, but the Knights scored three better in the second to tie the game at 66 apiece at the end of regulation. CCRI outscored SMCC 13-9 in the five-minute overtime period to claim the victory.

SMCC now stands 12-4 overall, and remains 6-2 in conference play.

Assistant Coach AJ Burton commented, "In our first game back from the semester break, the coaching staff was pleased with the team's effort on the road and the tenaciousness to battle late in the game. The focus now is to prepare for conference play later this week."

The action continues when the SeaWolves play host to the Bobcats from Paul Smith's College on Wednesday, Jan. 11 in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) contest at the HUB Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
