SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine-- The Southern Maine Community College men's basketball team defeated the Bobcats of Paul Smith's College 83-73 to earn its seventh Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) victory of the season on Wednesday, Jan. 11.

First-year Timothy Dixon (Plainville, Conn.) had himself a career night with 27 points, 19 in the second half. Coming off the bench, Dixon made an efficient 10 of 15 from the floor and added four rebounds and four assists to his resume. Sophomore Dylan Silvestri (Pelham, N.H.) notched his third double-double of the season with 16 points and 15 rebounds, nine offensive, in 22 minutes on the floor. Sophomore Ryan Cloutier (Pelham, N.H.) and junior John Morgan (Sanford, Maine) also scored in double figures with 14 and 10.

In a game that featured nine lead changes, the SeaWolves found themselves trailing the opposition 57-55 with 10 minutes left in regulation. Dixon accounted for 10 points inside an SMCC 15-0 run that put the home team up 70-57 with six minutes left. The SeaWolves closed the game on a 7-2 run to preserve the 10-point victory.

In a post-game interview, Head Coach Matt Richards commented, "Everyone contributed to this win. We were able to get huge production from our bench tonight—49 points— and manage the game down the stretch to get the result we wanted. Now the focus is Saturday against another talented opponent in St. Joseph's."

SMCC is the first YSCC team to seven conference wins and remains one game back of Central Maine Community College in the North Division standings. The SeaWolves sport a 13-4 record overall.
