AMHERST, Mass.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s basketball team extended its win streak to six, its longest of the season, defeating Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) Hampshire College 108-44 on Saturday, Jan. 27.
Everyone contributed to the scorebook in SMCC’s back-to-back 100-point outburst. Junior captain Dylan Silvestri (Pelham, N.H.) led all scorers in the game with 19 points, shooting an efficient 8-12 from the field.
First-years Sean Bowering (Englewood, Colo.) and Seth Provencher (Hampton, N.H.) went off for season-highs—Bowering with 18 points powered by 3-6 from beyond the arc, and 16 from Provencher to go along with six rebounds, two steals, and a block.
First-year Oumar Keita (Bridgeport, Conn.) was 5-6 from the floor to include two highlight reel dunks.
The Black Sheep were paced by Forel Kourouma and Chris McCarthy who poured in a combined 27 points.
SMCC improves to 10-3 as the three-seed in the conference table, 15-7 overall. Hampshire remains winless in YSCC play at 0-12, 1-13 overall.
Conference action continues when the SeaWolves visit #1-seed NHTI on Thursday, Feb. 1 and on a mission to avenge a loss in part-one of the season series. SMCC holds the slight advantage all-time, having won 55 of 108 meetings. Tip off in Concord, N.H. is set for 8 p.m. Watch the action live HERE.
