VTC Knights Overthrow SeaWolves 81-55

RANDOLPH, Vt.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s basketball team was tripped up 81-55 on the road at Vermont Technical College (VTC) in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) matinee Sunday, Feb. 2.

The Knights ran away with the tip, beginning the game on a 23-6 run. Despite a more effective second half, SMCC was unable to recover the immediate deficit to match a season-low point total. Sophomore forward Anthony Lobor (Portland, Maine) stood out tallying 14 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore DeSean Cromwell (Biddeford, Maine) came off the bench to score eight points on 3-6 shooting.

Vermont Tech was powered by 49.2 percent shooting and 15-30 from beyond the arc. Jeremiah Shaw led all scorers with 22 points and two others finished with double-doubles—Dajuan Johnson with 12 points and 14 assists, Chance Cole 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The SeaWolves converted at a 35.9 percent clip and benefited 27 points off the bench.

SMCC drops its third consecutive to stand 9-4 in league action and 15-7 overall. VTC extends its win streak to nine to improve to 10-2 in Yankee contests, 18-6 on the year.

The SeaWolves return to the hardwood on Wednesday, Feb. 5 when they take on the Herons from Great Bay Community College in their second conference meeting of the season. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. at The HUB. WATCH live or follow the GAME CAST.
