Stirling Tied for 1st Heading Into Final Day at Nationals

STATE COLLEGE, Penn. – YSCC champion Tommy Stirling of Southern Maine Community College is tied atop the leader board after the first round of play at the 2011 USCAA Golf National Championships at the Penn State Blue Course. Stirling dropped seven birdies to shoot a 72, even par and tied with Kris Bartling of Rochester College.

In team play, New Hampshire Technical Institute is in third place after the first round, shooting a 312, ten strokes behind leader Rochester College. The Lynx had three players shoot in the seventies on day one, led by Dustin Moreault with a 76. Teammates Austin Fox and Andy Levins are two strokes behind with a 78.

Also sending individuals to compete in the national tournament are the University of Maine at Augusta, Eastern Maine Community College, and the University of Maine at Machias.
